The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the African Management Services Company (AMSCO) on 29 March 2012 hosted a cocktail for their clients under the theme “Diversity and Inclusion”. The celebration took place at African Regent Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
The key message for the evening was that all businesses need to embrace Diversity and Inclusion for growth and sustainability.
Mary-Jean Moyo, the Country Manager for IFC Ghana, emphasized the point, stating that March is a special month for Diversity and Inclusion and that they joined forces with AMSCO the previous week to share food items brought by individual staff members from various countries. “Diversity and Inclusion contribute positively to business prosperity” she said.
Speaking at the same event, Regional Manager for AMSCO, Mohamed Ky also shared AMSCO’s 22 year experience stating that recruiting, retaining, and promoting diverse employees are critical to business success in this evolving marketplace. He said careful planning, nurturing and following up to measure impact promotes success, motivated employees and client satisfaction.
Head of Human Resources at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Rosie Ebe-Arthur said Employees should feel valued and respected for who they are and what they bring to the organizations. She said if you can find a footing between two cultures, you can have the best of both worlds.
On their side, Joe Ohemeng from Deloitte and Touche said that cultural diversity is one of Deloitte’s shared values and that they recognize that their diversity represents an enormous opportunity. He said diversity is not a nice to have but an essential prerequisite for business growth.
Dzorwulu School grazed the occasion with a special dance performance and a speech by the Principal who thanked IFC and AMSCO for including them in the celebration. She urged businesses to give support to their school for children with special needs. |
