The AMSCO Team visits Othandweni Children’s Home - April 2011
In April 2011, The AMSCO Team visited Othandweni Children’s home In Johannesburg, South Africa. This was the second visit to the facility that houses orphaned children, kids from disadvantaged families, victims of abuse and children abandoned at the Door of Hope. Having done a needs assessment during the previous visit, AMSCO employees contributed and bought goods worth R5000 for the Home. The money was used to buy stationery, formula milk for babies, irons, kettles, pots, toiletry, cosmetics and clothes. The Team was warmly received with appreciation from the leadership of Othandweni. One of the girls residing there also read a poem about her wishes in life that she shared with AMSCO. The AMSCO Team made a pledge of their time to visit again as companionship, not just gifts, also brings smiles to the children.
